A human Rights advocate has narrated the unpleasant treatment she met at the Akinpelu police station in Lagos when she went to report a 12 year old girl who had ran away from her home. She said the child was brought to her house and she took her to the Akinpelu police station but police officers in the station were not willing to take the child from her as they kept her waiting until night. The Rights advocate identified as Olaide Ayoka a member of the Advocate for children and Vulnerable Persons Network ACVPN who wrote about her ordeal on the Whatapp page of the group said she had to resort creating a scene before the Divisional police officer came to attend to her. She said ” A mandatory reporter brought a run away child to me around 7:12pm,she ran from Kudeibu Estate at Ijegun to Oshodi Oke, after questioning,I immediately took her to Akinpelu Police Station ‘cos I can’t keep her at home, getting there,we met the Human Right Unit Head who listened to us then directed us to go & incident the case on the counter, the front desk officer pushed me back to the other officer since almost 35 mins ago, non attended to me. Though gotten the DP O no & been calling since without a response. It’s already getting late,I can’t keep this child in my home oooooo, kindly help me as I’m still in front of the station.
She is 12 years old & a JSS 2 Student.

Thanks, the DPO had come out to attend to us when I refused to leave & wanted to create scene so the he came out.
