APC defends Buhari’s govt, says ‘intervenor government’ cleaned up PDP’s mess

Felix Morka, the spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has come to the defense of Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, stating that it spent its eight-year tenure rectifying the mistakes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership.

Morka made this call on Monday in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

This assertion comes as Nigeria grapples with soaring inflation rates, now over 30%, and the rising costs of essential commodities.

Morka attributed the country’s current economic woes to the PDP’s 16-year rule, which he claimed created a “phantom economy” where billions of dollars and naira were mismanaged and embezzled. “The Buhari administration did nothing in eight years but to clean and mop up the mess made by the PDP,” Morka emphasized.

Buhari: An Intervenor Government?

Morka described Buhari’s government as an “intervenor” that prevented Nigeria from plunging into chaos. “Buhari was simply an intervenor government that simply came to hold place and hold Nigeria away from the precipice,” he stated. This characterization suggests that Buhari’s administration played a crucial stabilizing role, rather than driving the country’s economic challenges.

Current Hardship: A Legacy of PDP’s Misrule?

According to Morka, the APC-led government is working to correct the systemic issues created by the PDP’s 16-year rule. He argued that the hardship facing Nigeria was “constructed generationally” by the PDP, perpetuating “heinous, abominable crimes” against the country.

Morka urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu‘s government, assuring that it will deliver on its promises. This appeal comes as the country struggles to cope with the aftermath of the fuel subsidy removal, which has driven up prices of essential commodities.
