In order to guarantee a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process for the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial elections on Saturday, November 16, 2024, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has announced extensive security measures.

As the coordinating DIG for the election, DIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi has been assigned by the IGP to supervise the execution of police security plans in order to uphold peace and order during the voting period.

Additionally, CP Tunji Disu and AIG Bennett Igweh were sent as CP and AIG, respectively.

All vehicle movements on highways, rivers, and other modes of transportation will be restricted from 6 am to 6 pm on Election Day as part of the security framework, with the exception of those used by emergency services including ambulances, media representatives, fire departments, and other authorized media.

In order to minimize disturbances, VIP escorts and security personnel are not permitted to accompany VIPs to polling places and collation centers.

“During the election, unauthorized security personnel and quasi-security agencies will not be allowed to function, and unauthorized cars will not be allowed to use sirens.
