Residents and motorists were thrown into mourning on Wednesday morning when they noticed a lifeless body of a woman on the road. The commotion caused by the corpse forced the motorists and residents at the Ajibade area of Ibadan to troupe out to the express road to the sight of a woman identified as Constance a mother of one covered with leaves who was killed by a hit and run vehicle. Passerbys and the residents said they made frantic efforts to save the woman whom they said is mentally challenged and also physically handicapped. Narrating the incident a trader who requested anonymity said ” Constance is a well known woman in Sango market where she hawked satchet water. She is mentally challenged and she wobbles when she walked . She has a girl but because of her poor mental health, she is always seen in shops , she dresses well and wears make up a lot. She loved looking good. What I heard is that she was trying to cross the road at Ajibade bus stop when a car ran over her and crushed her legs. This happened around early morning and the driver fled and left her in pain. Her legs were shattered. It was passers- by and motorists that pulled her from the road to the pavement. She died before she could be taken to the hospital . Her family members later came and identified her. We have been weeping because of her sudden and painful death. She is well known and was a peaceful woman. “.
