FIFA World Cup Qualifier: Nigeria defeats Rwanda 2:0

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were in action today, playing a must-win encounter in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium. The Nigerian National Team tutored by Eric Chelle were looking to get their first win in the qualification round by defeating the Rwandan team in this important game of football.

The Super Eagles took the early lead from a set-piece play in the 11th minute of the match against Rwanda. Victor Osimhen volleyed Ademola Lookman’s cross beautifully into the net to make the scoreline 1-0.

In the final minutes of the game, Victor Osimhen turned up for Nigeria once again by scoring a lovely chip goal against Rwanda. The 26 year-old striker singlehandedly gave the Super Eagles a comfortable 2-0 lead at halftime.

The Nigerian Players focused on preserving their lead in the match by playing more safe in the second half against Rwanda. They defended brilliantly against Rwanda’s attacks to stop them from scoring any goal in the encounter. At full-time, Nigeria won Rwanda 2-0.

Meanwhile, South Africa bagged an important victory in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers when they hosted Lesotho at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. The Bafana Bafana showed why they were the better side heading into this match by comfortably defeating Lesotho 2-0 thanks to second half goals from Jayden Adams and Relebohile Mofokeng.
