An alarming situation has emerged in Anambra State, where an 18-year-old boy has reportedly impregnated ten girls. The news was shared by Ify Obinabo, the Anambra State Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, in a recent social media video.
Obinabo revealed that the issue was brought to her attention on Tuesday, highlighting the gravity of the situation. Among the girls affected, two are connected to the boy’s former apprenticeship; one is the daughter of his master, and the other is a salesgirl. After just three months of training, he was dismissed from his apprenticeship due to these incidents. Shockingly, within two months of returning to his village, he allegedly impregnated eight more girls.
In her video, Obinabo expressed her concern and sought public input, stating, “I need advice from the public because this situation is beyond my capacity.” She described the distress of the boy’s mother, who reported feeling anxious whenever she sees girls approaching her home, fearing they might be another victim.
The commissioner emphasized the need for community support to address this troubling issue, questioning whether there might be a spiritual aspect involved. The case has sparked widespread discussion, with many people expressing disbelief and concern over the boy’s actions and the implications for the young girls involved.
