Mystery As US returnee dies in hotel.

A US returnee identified as Sunday Abidoye, was found i dead In a h Hotel, Sagamu, on Wednesday.

In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, it was revealed that the tragic incident came to light when the hotel’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Oluwole, reported the discovery to the police.

The circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear as investigations are underway.

“On receiving the report, a team of detectives visited the scene and found the body of the deceased already placed in a car outside the hotel. It was being prepared to be transported to the morgue by his family,” stated Odutola.

The deceased’s brother, Jimoh Godday, revealed to the police that Abidoye had returned to Nigeria from the United States on Saturday.

He stated that he had called Abidoye on Monday, and when he received no response, he decided to visit the hotel.

“After knocking on the door multiple times without an answer, he sought assistance from the hotel manager and obtained a spare key. Upon entering the room, they discovered his brother’s lifeless body,” he explained.

Various drugs and traditional medicines were reportedly found in the room, while the centre of the bed was soaked with a liquid-like substance.

A friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, also confirmed that he had accompanied the deceased the previous day to purchase nine different types of medication, following complaints of illness.

The police spokesperson revealed that the deceased’s remains had been moved to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.

She added that the cause of death had not yet been determined and that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a thorough investigation.

Meanwhile, Odutola advised the public to avoid using medications without proper medical prescriptions.
