A teenager who was arrested by men of the Niger State Police Command with a stolen car has told the operatives how he went away with the car after stabbing the owner to death, the command announced in a statement today, December 12, 2024.
The state police command disclosed the development in the statement posted on its Facebook wall, saying the teenager, whose name was given as Abdulhakeem Fatiyah, aged 18 years, was arrested by operatives attached to the Crack Squad of the command.
It was gathered that the teenager went to a block industry along the Eastern Bye-pass, Minna, the state capital, attacked and stabbed the owner, whose name was given as Adamu Jagaba, on the head and went away with his car, a Toyota Camry.
According to the command, the man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead. Following his death, the police operatives began investigation after visiting the scene and some days later, the operatives intercepted the car and arrested the teenager.
The command wrote: “During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he was the man’s car painter and visited him at his block industry located along Eastern Bye-Pass via Maitumbi adjacent to PDP Secretariat, Minna.
“He said he deliberately stabbed the deceased severally on the head and the neck after their discussion and made away with his vehicle. He confessed further that he conspired with some of the man’s workers who gave him more information before carrying out the crime.”
The command added that he had given more useful information to the police operatives while efforts are on to arrest the workers who gave him information.
