In order to create a sustainable tourist ecosystem centered on Nigeria’s abundant natural resources and human capital, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged investors to collaborate with the State Government.

Governor Sanwo-Olu gave a speech at the International Tourism and Investment Conference’s (ITIC) Global Tourism Investment Summit Opening Ceremony, which took place at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster, London.

The Global Tourism Investment Summit’s theme was “The Evolving Landscape of the Hospitality Sector: Embracing Green and Sustainable Investments,” which attempts to offer new viewpoints and insights on the future of eco-friendly investments and the sustainability of the global tourism industry.

At the high-level meeting of tourism ministers, business executives, and developers from the travel, tourist, and hospitality industries, Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka represented Governor Sanwo-Olu.

During the morning conversations on “Tourism perspectives in the evolving global economic context,” Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the keynote address. He discussed the progress his administration has made in developing tourism and the contribution of the entire value chain of Arts, Fashion, and Music Creatives to the global promotion of Lagos tourism.

Nevertheless, he pointed out areas that needed work and urged investors to work with him to create a sustainable tourist ecosystem that would capitalize on Nigeria’s abundant natural resources and people capital.

He stated: “Our government has deliberately incorporated entertainment and tourism as a key pillar in our THEMES+ development strategy because we are very conscious of the need to enhance the tourist environment in Lagos State.

Since the administration began, we have achieved some small success in the fields of tourism, entertainment, and the arts. We have instructed thousands of young people in a variety of creative arts disciplines, including animation, music production, and filmmaking.

In order to create magic that speaks to Lagos’s spirit as Africa’s creative center, the government has awarded funds to filmmakers and other industry experts.

According to Ibrahim Ayoub, the Group CEO & Managing Director of International Tourism Investment Corporation Ltd., and Dr. Taleb Rifai, the Chairman of the organization and a former UNWTO Secretary-General, Governor Sanwo-Olu was honored and invited to the summit because of his unwavering dedication to making Lagos State a top international travel destination.

In order to influence the future of the global tourist industry, the Global tourist Investment Summit is crucial in promoting international investment in sustainable tourism initiatives.
