Following the latest cabinet reshuffle, Senator Ali Ndume has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to remove more ministers, claiming that some are underperforming.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the senator representing the Borno South senatorial district praised Tinubu for establishing the Ministry of Regional Development, characterizing the move as “masterstroke.”
Ndume acknowledged the positives of the reshuffle, but proposed that additional “missing in action” ministers be dismissed to boost overall government efficiency.
He also recommended Tinubu to build on his “de-dollarisation” campaign by positioning Nigeria to join BRICS, adding that this might lessen reliance on the US dollar, benefit Nigerian businesses, particularly those doing business with China, and relieve pressure on the naira.

Ndume further suggested that Tinubu host a national economic conference with the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, the National Economic Adviser, and famous Nigerian economists to discuss indigenous solutions to Nigeria’s economic difficulties.
“More needs to be done, since certain ministers remain’missing in action.
“I am particularly happy with the establishment of the Ministry of Regional Development to oversee regional commissioners.
“The President’s decision to streamline ministries also exemplifies his commitment to reducing the cost of governance,” Ndume told reporters.
